Kanban board game for teams

A Kanban board game for workshops and team learning.

Play2Learn is a hands-on Kanban board game designed for corporate workshops, team building and Agile training. Teams manage work in a physical Kanban system, apply WIP limits, use pull, respond to disruption and measure flow, cycle time and business value. The result is a practical Kanban simulation where participants experience bottlenecks, trade-offs, value delivery and continuous improvement instead of only hearing about them.

01

Team engagement

Everyone has a role, a voice and a reason to stay involved from start to finish.

02

Collaboration

Participants coordinate priorities, capacity and flow as one system—not as isolated individuals.

03

Communication

The board creates a shared language for work, blockers, dependencies, priorities and trade-offs.

04

Decision-making

Changing conditions force teams to choose, experiment, respond and learn under realistic pressure.

05

Value & waste

Teams experience why finishing valuable work matters more than maximizing activity or utilization.

06

Efficiency & effectiveness

Visible flow metrics reveal bottlenecks and show how WIP and policy choices affect the whole system.

The experience

A truly engaging team experience.

Teams of four to five manage a stream of work across a Kanban system, making decisions together as each round introduces new conditions, pressure and trade-offs.

Participants making decisions during a Play2Learn simulation
Fast-moving. Strategic. Competitive. Highly replayable.
1

Build the flow

Move work through analysis, development and testing while respecting WIP limits.

2

Respond to reality

Daily instruction and issue cards introduce pressure, variability and unexpected events.

3

Make the trade-offs

Teams allocate resources, change policies, sequence work and decide what creates the most value.

4

See what happened

Players build flow, cycle-time and business-value charts and connect their decisions to results.

What teams discover

Kanban principles become visible.

Instead of being told what good flow looks like, participants create a system, observe it and learn how to improve it.

Limit work in progress

Experience how too much WIP slows flow, creates congestion and hides problems.

Manage flow

Recognize bottlenecks and understand why local utilization is not the same as system performance.

Focus on value

Prioritize outcomes and business value rather than simply maximizing activity.

Make policies explicit

See how clear rules improve coordination, consistency and decision speed.

Use feedback

Inspect data, discuss what happened and adapt the system based on evidence.

Improve collaboratively

Build accountability around the performance of the whole system, not individual silos.
